The genealogy collections belonging to the Library, deal foremost with Jackson County; secondarily with surrounding counties; then finally, with the Commonwealth of Kentucky in general.

All materials located in the Kentucky Room are obtained primarily from private and historical society donations.

The Kentucky Room also houses:

• 6 loose leaf binders of Jackson County cemeteries (published in 1990s)
• 38 additional binders of 15 counties surrounding Jackson county
• Various other records like obituaries, microfilm documents, deeds, photo collections, and local periodicals.
